Vintage & Blue: Evan & Anne, Engaged

Evan and Anne are getting married in March in Savannah, GA, awfully close to my birthday, and let me tell you, I can’t think of a better birthday present. Anne (who is Anne with an “ie” when we pronounce her name) contacted me in July just before I started my treatment, and even though I couldn’t meet with her right away, she was so sure she wanted my pictures that she waited two months until we could meet. In the meantime, we passed emails back and forth about shoot ideas and contracts and colors and styling, and by the time I met Anne in person, I was practically giddy over her pictures.

These two met four and a half years ago when Anne’s girlfriend hosted a dinner party that turned out to be something of a Bachelorette show version – with Anne and her friend as the Bachelorettes. Anne noticed Evan right away, but he was reserved and a little shy in the large group. It wasn’t until later that evening that they got to talking, and in Evan’s short version of the story, they ended up dating, and they’re getting married now. He proposed to Anne at home after a dinner out on the fourth anniversary of their first meeting, which was the perfect proposal for this couple, who both just LIKE being at home.

Anne graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a major in Fashion Design, and her fantastic eye for detail lent a lovely modern vintage twist to this shoot. Her dress was an Anthropologie find – she bought it special for the shoot – and Evan, a quintessential Southern gentleman, did GOOD on Anne’s 1940’s vintage engagement ring. It’s so HER!

I loved watching them together. Anne adores her guy, and Evan – well, he put it this way when I asked how he knew Anne was the one: “I couldn’t see living without her.” They have a tender love, a sweet relationship built in quiet conversations and gentle touch. They’re getting married in Old Town Savannah, but they’re beach people too, and not in the “let’s go play in the surf” way, but in the “there’s no other place in the world I’d rather hang to rest than at the sea” way.

Evan, Anne, I really enjoyed getting to know you both a little more – thanks for putting up with me, my mispronunciations, and my one-word love-that-shot vocabulary. I’m so excited for your wedding now – I can’t wait to see you in Savannah next spring!

I absolutely love your “blue” themed couples shoots at the beach… there is something so soothing about them… you are gifted with light and with blue – love it :)

They are so sweet! My favorite is that image of Evan all by himself, smiling into the camera. It – as they say – speaks a thousand words. And I’m sweet on the flower tattoo.

I was in Savannah last weekend with two blogger friends – Lisa Leonard and Sarah Markley. It was at the end of a long and wonderful week, so we weren’t thinking too clearly. We were wondering why the word SCAD was posted everywhere. It took us awhile, but we finally caught on: Savannah College of Art and Design.
