I am going to be a jazz singer for fun. And I’m going to record a vocal album. Because it’s never too late to live your dreams.
And you know what? You have to keep dreaming even if you don’t pursue them because the dreams you live become your regular life and they feel like work and you still know there’s more to you than what you’re living. Sometimes it’s just fun to hold the dreams – they’re a smile and a wish and a hope and a reason to keep going on the days the grind thinks it wins. They’re an invitation to grace.
Okay, your turn. What are you gonna do when you grow up? What dreams do you keep where you are?
(P.S. I’m gonna try to start an #allisgrace hashtag on Twitter to see if grace could trend today, which it appears to be doing in my world just now. Want to join me?)

Mmmm. Funny. We went to the National Zoo today and the Air and Space Museum and I said to Josh that I was going to live in D.C. and write for a paper. Well that and be a missionary/writer. Oh, and I thought of being a broadway singer for a while. This girl has always had a hard time settling for just ONE dream or career. But usually writing was involved. :)
When I grow up I want to be an author… of a very special book. Not sure which one yet… God knows the details.
I’m going to be a dancer. And a singer.
I speak of these two often and it gives me freedom to pursue it in Now. And this, is grace.
These dreams weave into our everyday. And #allisgrace. So with you on this, friend.
Okay so… when I grow up I want to write. I don’t know what, maybe what I am now, but I see myself still writing. And touching people’s hearts. I would like to do that.
When I grow up I’m going to get a giant blank canvas– the biggest one I can find– and I’m going to paint something on it. And it’s not going to be very good, but I’m going to love it anyway, and I’m going to hang it on the wall in my house and tell people it’s original art by an emerging artist who is going to be very famous someday.
And also I’m going to write more than lame blog posts.
And I’m going to learn how to use my camera on manual.
I’m going to design nurseries for babies, and throw baby showers and gender reveal parties for a living. I’m going to donate my time helping children and parents living with a terminal illness. I’m going to make a difference in the world…grace will get me there.
