If there is one thing Charleston does well, one thing I can’t help but like her for in spite of its affect on me – it is summer. She explodes into it, all that pent-up wildness poured out in semi-tropical heat, blazing sunsets, and a riot of color against clear blue skies. Virginia feels tame, and tired in the summer, but here there is LIFE. So much that I don’t always want to stay inside to avoid the heat, so much that I brave the mosquitoes and humidity to get out in it and live too.
Last weekend we went out to pick figs and I made it a full three minutes before I had to dash back inside for my camera. When the haze clears, the light is intoxicating – like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Here are a few scenes from my summer, things I love and am loving.

I just discovered that I can load my images here without an hour of prep time, and I’m happy on this Friday to announce that this photo post came together in about 20 minutes, instead of the hour and a half to which I am accustomed. I am LIKING this.

Love these images. You have the cutest kids. Well, except for mine of course.
(Do you mean for the two vertical images to be side-by-side? They’re stacked on top of each other with lots of empty space to the side and it looks different than your normal photo layout.)
Your pictures are always beautiful…amazing gift.
Did you say fresh figs? Oh boy-howdy you’ve got a yum-yum tree in your backyard. ;-)
What’s this “align none” bit? Hmmm.
Have a blessed weekend, miss Kelly.
You’re making me like summer, Kelly. Watch out!
